I don't think of the word monsoon when I think of Colorado. For some reason I think of Africa mostly, but this year I am associating the word with Colorado. I looked the word up to be sure it even made sense with what is going on here on the front range and I think it applies quite well.  "The monsoon season is a showcase of dramatic weather.
